My current dream scenario would be to package (Beasley + 17) for (Hield + 26 or 29) from Indiana.

With pick 26/29, would then love to draft Andre Jackson. Might be a tad high for him but I just love what he brings to the table.

My question is: is there any reason for hope (given the iffy mechanics; So-so free throw shooting;,Etc) that his outside shooting could improve?

Feels like the last decade is filled with “great wing prospect (if he could shoot)” guys. But, with all the other things he brings to the table, seems like he still can create value on the Lakers with his passing/defensive IQ...

I'm not a fan of that Hield trade, because I don't think he can defend at a playoff level. The reason why I wanted Turner and Hield, is because it allowed at least 1 rim protector and 1 giant roamer along the perimeter to make up for defensive issues.

I think there's at least a 1/2 tier of talent drop off going from 17 to 26 or 29.

Andre needs a total jumpshot revamp. He's not a great half-court ball-handler either. Ever notice that Phil Handy does well with guys who have a base level of ball-handling and shooting? That's why I lean MUCH harder to Djurisic, Sissoko, and a few others.

Ah, hadn’t thought about the ball-handling aspects. Appreciate the perspective, too, about the drop off from 17 down to 26 & 29. In my head, there was no drop off there, but that definitely gives me some room for thought now.

One thing I’ve been wondering as a general draft question:

Do you know how to teams pick who they want to interview at the combine vs workout?

Are combine interviews only considered to be reserved for players a team is highest on going into the draft? And the workouts are players they just need to see more from?

In recent years, the Lakers have signed workout players (Reaves/Swider/Pippen), but they drafted Max who they only interviewed at the combine. With THT, I don’t even know if they interviewed or worked him out at all.

Just always curious if you knew if there is a differentiation between combine interview prospects and workout prospects, esp. for the Lakers.

I do not. I know certain teams have scouts that have watched the same players for at least 2-4 years prior, and I just prepare in the last year prior to the draft. I find workouts and interviews confirmations of what they've already examined on-and-off the floor.

Thanks for the insights. It’s a very curious process that I doubt we’ll ever truly find out about. And,!probably rightfully so...

If I did it like they do, I'd just be more confused. As of now, I'm happy with the accuracy rate considering my current methods, but admittedly, I'm missing a ton of detail with zero information being leaked from interviews.
