Can DLo be seen as a good comp for Kobe Bufkin? They are both lefties, but watching highlights, seems like there’s some similarity in where they get their shots from.
Bufkin is more fluid, as you point out, whereas DLo has more of a “herky-jerky” style. But, wondering if Bufkin could seemingly look to replace DLo if he leaves. We already have a “proof of concept” with that player archetype and how well they pair around Bron/Reaves/AD.
It's strange to me that I see Bufkin as a wing that just happens to be 6'4" 175 than a traditional point guard / playmaker. In some cases, he defends bigger than his size especially around the rim.
Thanks so much for the write-up! We pin all of your articles still in the Lakers Exceptionalism Discord.
Besides Djurisic, Sidy Cissoko seems to have a lot of variance still with his draft range. I’ve had several people tell me on various platforms that 17 is way too high for Sidy and I’ve even seen him mocked in the second round. People have called him “too much of a project” to draft that high, especially for the Lakers. Why are they missing what you are highlighting?
Seems like any team would LOvE a Wing, regardless of their timeline, with Jimmy Butler-size, who can read the floor on both sides, and has A+ competitiveness?
Appreciate the response! I'm glad people are reading it on the LED.
I don't know *their* process, I only know mine. Frankly, this is why I've had (what I think) more success than others in regards to the draft, let alone matching half of the Lakers picks since 2014. I'm just mindful that Sidy is 19, and French basketball is different from USA level, so I expect inconsistencies, but I'm surprised that Sidy plays so physically when French basketball is almost the opposite, to a staggering level.
That's why I'm optimistic.
At least tell me *why* he's a project and we can have a discussion on why I agree or disagree.
Otherwise, I'm guessing they're going to say he needs to work on shooting since it was so up-and-down this season, while I'll just counter that the guys that know how to shoot at age 19 need to learn how to play physically, defend, handle the basketball, make reads at both ends of the floor, or All Of The Above.
